HDFC Bank statement to Excel
HDFC Bank statements arrive as neat PDFs with a summary block at the end, which is handy for reading and awkward for accounting. This page turns that PDF into rows you can sort, filter and total, and uses HDFC's own summary figures to tell you whether anything went missing.
Convert your HDFC Bank statement
Private by design: your PDF is read by your own browser. It is never uploaded, and nothing is stored on a server. The password, if you type one, is used once to open the file and then forgotten.
Text-based PDF, up to 25 MB and 300 pages. On a computer you can also drop the file here.
Reading…
Always compare the converted file with your original statement before using it for tax filing, loans or audits. The converted file is not an official bank document.
How to download your HDFC Bank statement
HDFC Bank publishes a guide (in Hindi) to downloading an account statement through NetBanking.
- Sign in to HDFC Bank NetBanking from the bank's official website, typing the address yourself.
- Go to the accounts area and open the account statement option.
- Choose the account and the period you need.
- Download the statement and save the file somewhere you can find it.
HDFC's guide walks through the screens in more detail. If NetBanking offers a spreadsheet download for your account, that is simpler than converting; use this page when the PDF is all you have, for example a statement emailed to you or shared by a client.
How we read a HDFC Bank statement
HDFC Bank statement PDFs commonly use these headings. Your copy may differ slightly; the reader matches headings by meaning, not exact spelling.
| Column in the PDF | Column in your spreadsheet |
|---|---|
| Date | Date |
| Narration | Description |
| Chq./Ref.No. | Reference |
| Value Dt | Value Date |
| Withdrawal Amt. | Debit |
| Deposit Amt. | Credit |
| Closing Balance | Balance |
- Dates use two-digit years (31/05/26). These are read as 2026, not 1926.
- The column headings are repeated at the top of every page; repeats are recognised and skipped.
- The "STATEMENT SUMMARY" block at the end lists opening balance, total debits, total credits and closing balance. We compare your exported totals with it.
- "Withdrawal Amt." and "Deposit Amt." sit very close together on the page. Amounts are matched by their right edge, which keeps them in the right column.
- Reference numbers such as 0000000000000000 stay as text, so leading zeros are not lost.
Common problems
The PDF is locked with a password
HDFC Bank sets this password. The email that carried the statement, or HDFC's help pages, usually explain it. Type it into the password box on this page; it is used once, inside your browser.
Totals don't match the statement summary
Check whether your PDF covers the same dates as the summary. If a page is missing from the PDF, the difference shows up here; the badge drops to Medium or Low so it can't go unnoticed.
Excel shows the reference number in scientific notation
That happens when a CSV is opened by double-click. Use the Excel (.xlsx) download instead, where references are stored as text.
The narration wraps onto a second line
Wrapped narration lines are joined to the transaction above them, so one transaction is still one row.
FAQ
Why does the result mention a statement summary?
HDFC statements print totals at the end. When we find them, we use them as a second check on top of the row-by-row running balance.
Will it handle a credit card statement from HDFC?
Not yet. This version is built for savings and current account statements; card statements have a different layout.
Is anything stored after I close the tab?
No. The statement, its password and the extracted rows live only in the open tab, and closing it clears them. Nothing about the file is kept on this device or on a server.
StatementKit is not affiliated with or endorsed by HDFC Bank. Bank names are used only to describe compatibility.
