How to download your Kotak statement

Kotak's own guide describes getting a consolidated statement in the Kotak mobile banking app.

  1. Log in to the Kotak mobile banking app with your CRN and MPIN.
  2. Open the Statement section from the menu or dashboard.
  3. Tap Select Consolidated Statement, pick the month and tap View.
  4. Review the statement and download it.

Kotak's statement page also offers to send an e-statement for a chosen date range to your registered email. Either way you end up with a PDF, which you can convert below.

How we read a Kotak statement

Kotak layouts vary. These are the two shapes the reader is prepared for.

  • When there is one Amount column, a Dr marker means a debit and Cr means a credit.
  • A balance marked (Dr) means the account was overdrawn at that point; it is exported as a negative number so formulas keep working.
  • An "Opening Balance" line starts the balance check.
  • Dates like 05-08-2026 and 5 Aug 2026 are both read day first.

Common problems

My balance shows as negative in Excel

That row carried a Dr balance in the PDF, meaning the account was overdrawn. Negative is the correct accounting sign.

Every row is marked as a credit

The Dr/Cr markers were probably not found. Choose "Kotak Mahindra Bank" under Bank layout and convert again; the file is re-read instantly.

The emailed statement is password-protected

Kotak sets that password, and the email normally explains it. Type it in the password box; it is used once and forgotten.

A narration is split over two rows

Wrapped narration lines are joined to their transaction. If one still looks split, the row will usually fail the balance check, which points you to it.

Why do Dr and Cr matter?

In a single Amount column they are the only thing telling money in from money out. Getting them wrong would flip your totals, so the balance check verifies them.
